Haddington police charge 13-year-old in connection with knife possession

The knife was recovered in Market Street in Haddington on Wednesday 1 July, and a report will be submitted to the Children's Reporter.
East Lothian Police are aware of community concerns around anti-social behaviour and disorder and want to reassure people that they remain committed to tackling the issue.

Hide AdIn a statement on their Facebook, a spokesperson for East Lothian Police said: “It is a criminal offence to carry a knife and doing so can have tragic consequences. It is vital that, if you know someone is carrying a knife or a weapon, you report this to a person of authority.
“You have a responsibility not to be a bystander in your community. Young people are encouraged to tell to a parent, teacher, youth worker, police or any trusted adult if they have information about a person carrying a weapon.”
