Three Hearts players to leave the club following Saturday's game against Rangers

Squad changes are already taking place at Tynecastle

Three senior Hearts players will leave the club following Saturday’s final Premiership match of the season against Rangers. Peter Haring, Andy Halliday and Michael McGovern will say their goodbyes to team-mates and fans at Tynecastle Park at full-time.

All three are out of contract and are not part of Hearts’ plans season 2024/25. Midfielder Haring is bringing an end to six years in Gorgie, whilst fellow midfielder Halliday has spent four years in maroon and will now join Motherwell permanently. Goalkeeper McGovern was signed last summer as cover but did not make a first-team appearance for Hearts.

A statement issued by the Edinburgh club read: “Heart of Midlothian can confirm that Peter Haring, Michael McGovern, and Andy Halliday will leave the club upon the expiry of their contracts this summer. Each of the departing players have been excellent servants to the club and will move on to the next stage in their careers with the best wishes and thanks of everyone at Hearts.

“Peter Haring, of course, is held in deep affection following his six years at Tynecastle; helping the men in maroon to the Scottish Cup final in 2019, our promotion campaign in 2021 and as the club secured two third place finishes in 2021/22 and 2023/24.

“Supporters will have the chance to pay tribute to the departing players following Saturday’s cinch Premiership match with Rangers, as well as celebrate the end to a fantastic season which has seen the club clinch third place in the table, European football for the third season in a row for the first time ever, and guaranteed group stage European football.

“At full-time, the first team and coaching staff will head into the dressing room before returning shortly after to form a guard of honour for the departing players. The squad and coaching staff will then partake in a lap of honour, heading left in the direction of the Main Stand/Gorgie Stand and then making their way around the pitch.

“This is an opportunity for fans and players to show their appreciation of each other and we encourage supporters to remain inside the stadium at full time to take part.”
