THE Glen’s Mark Lutton has completed the semi-final line-up for the Lothians Champion of Champions at North Berwick on Monday week.
A 4&3 win over Baberton’s Mark Riddell has earned Lutton a last-four clash with Stephen Simants (Dunbar Castle).
BBT’s Steven Armstrong, bidding for a second win in the event, meets Stuart Thorburn (Newbattle in the other tie.
Armstrong’s clubmate, Chris Tait, is among the semi-finalists for the Handicap event.
• McIntosh leads Order of Merit title race
LEADER Eric McIntosh (Bruntsfield Links) has two Turnhouse players chasing him in the Lothians Boys’ Order of Merit title race.
Helped by wins at Harburn, then in his home event,
McIntosh had amassed 278 points from the opening six tournaments.
But, with four events to go, Rory Henderson from Turnhouse was only seven points behind while his clubmate, Leigh Lawson, had also scored in four tournaments to sit a close third on 242. The last counting event is at the Glen on August 5.
• Magic Mike clinches Newlands Trophy in play-off
NORTH BERWICK’S Mike Gray chalked up a notable triumph as he won the Newlands Trophy at Lanark.
It was an even better victory given that he beat a host club player, Jamie Lamb, in a play-off after they tied on 142 after 36 holes.
Reinstated amateur Ed Wood also finished on the same total but the Crow Wood man didn’t take part in the shoot-out.
Gray’s name joins three-times winner Allyn Dick on the trophy.
• Turner aims to raise funds with scramble
JANE TURNER is hoping some home comfort can tee her up to be a European Tour player next season.
She’s holding a Texas Scramble Fundraiser at West Linton, where she cut her golfing teeth along with brother Graham.
The event is being held on September 25 and Turner said: “The money raised will be used to help cover the expenses of my tournaments on the LET Access Series and also for the LET Qualifying School in Morocco in December.”
