THOUSANDS of pounds is to be shared out across East Lothian, helping a range of community projects.
The £20,000 “war chest”, to be given to six organisations in the region will help restore green areas in the city, the appearance of streets and go towards repairing ageing church windows.
The cash was released after the groups submitted applications to the East Lothian Civic Pride Fund.
It is the second round of funding after almost £30,000 was handed out in the summer.
The council’s community wellbeing leader, Ruth Currie, said: “What strikes me is that there is a strong sense of community pride evident in each application – local people wanting to celebrate their heritage and make the area more attractive for residents and visitors.”
