WARRING gypsy clans had to be kept apart by police on the Royal Mile yesterday while stunned tourists looked on.

The family of 23-year old victim Frank Baxter traded threats and insults with relatives of his uncle Joe Townsley, 63, outside the High Court after he was jailed for seven years for killing Baxter with a seven-ton-truck in Newmains, Lanarkshire, last year.

Almost 40 police officers kept the 35 family members apart. In court, relatives of Mr Baxter expressed shock at Townsley’s sentence, saying it was a “disgrace”.
