A man has been taken to hospital after a crash near the A1 this morning.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, was left unconscious when the Vauxhall Astra he was driving “left the carriageway” at Newcraighall Junction at around 10.45am.
A Police spokesman confirmed he has been taken to the Royal Infirmary but that he is “believed not to be seriously injured”.
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service said firefighters had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to free the man and he was on his way to the hospital at around 12pm.
The police are still trying to recover the vehicle which landed 20 feet down an embankment.
“There are considerable tailbacks and we are doing everything we can to get the car recovered,” the police spokesman added.
