A NEWBORN baby abandoned on a park bench one year ago has been adopted, council chiefs have confirmed.
Charlotte, who named by police officers, is said to have been living a “very happy and healthy” life since she was discovered in Hailesland Park last April, sparking a huge search operation to find her mother.
The identity of her mother remains a mystery.
It has been reported that the 11-month-old, who was found wrapped in blankets, will be formally adopted next month.
A council spokesman said: “Baby Charlotte has been with a loving couple for several months and is very settled, leading a happy and healthy life.
“She’s doing very well and we expect the courts to make the adoption permanent soon.”
