COUNCIL chiefs have apologised after families were left with unemptied bins over the festive period.
Merchiston resident Karen Finlayson posted a message on Facebook saying: “We’re having problems on Blantyre Terrace. All the bins are overflowing and there has not been a bin collection for a week.”
And Cameron Rose, Tory councillor for Southside/Newington, noted on his blog: “Some household bins in the Sciennes area – due for collection on Christmas Day – were not uplifted on the substitute date as planned, Saturday 28th. And I see some street bins are overflowing.”
Council environment convener Lesley Hinds said the vast majority of collections had taken place as scheduled. “A very small number of collections have been missed and we apologise to any residents affected.”
