Scottish Archbishop Philip Tartaglia is in hospital after having a heart attack, the Catholic Church has confirmed.
The Archbishop of Glasgow was taken to hospital in Salamanca, Spain, after feeling unwell yesterday.
A number of Scottish Bishops are currently attending an in-service week at the Scots College in Salamanca.
Archbishop Tartaglia is said by the church to be conscious today and in good spirits, and has been visited by other Scots bishops.
The Archbishop will remain in hospital until he is well enough to return home.
Catholic parishes in the Archdiocese of Glasgow have been informed of the Archbishop’s illness and special prayers will be said this weekend throughout the Archdiocese for his recovery.
