A Gofundme page has been set up for a dog-lover who is struggling to pay the vet bills for one of her 10 week old puppies.

Lorna Hunter, 40, from Prestonpans, East Lothian, started the online fundraiser to help Breige Reynolds, 24, afford the required treatment for poorly pooch Dan.

The tiny pup, who lives in Gorebridge, Midlothian, with Breige, suffered an eye injury and his mum had to go under the vet’s knife shortly after he and his litter of siblings arrived in the world.

Caring Lorna explained said: “Breige has had a hard time off it recently with vet bills and unfortunately the puppies’ mum had to go into emergency surgery straight after the puppies were born.

“She then had to hand rear the puppies and now one of them has a cut on his eye, which a week or so after that was discovered developed into an abscess.

“We have been friends for a long time so I was trying to get the word out as much as possible to try and get donations to help her out with the rising vet bills. They are currently at £800 but it’s looking like will be around £1000.”

And any additional funds will be given to one of the Lothians’ most deserving causes, which has been left struggling financially because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Lorna added: “Anything raised above the vet bill amount will be donated to the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, as we know they are struggling like many others due to Covid-19.”
