THE ball melted Hearts and broke Hibs – and now it’s up for grabs.
Cup final referee Craig Thomson has donated the ball used for the last kick in Hearts’ 5-1 victory to the Accord Hospice in Paisley, with all proceeds from its sale going to the charity.
Mr Thomson’s mother recently lost her battle with cancer and spent time at the Accord Hospice, which was also gifted his match fee. The auction will run on eBay until next Monday and is a chance for Hearts fans in particular to own a piece of history.
Fundraising manager for the charity, Kenneth Mathie, who hopes to raise £500, said: “We are just so grateful to Craig Thomson for donating this item. It’s a very unique item and there will be a letter of authenticity.”
