Police were called to the Tesco store in Musselburgh after a store manager feared shoppers might become unruly over an iPad offer on Black Friday.

Officers attended the incident at the retail giant’s Olive Bank Road store at 1am after receiving a call from worried staff.

A police spokesman said that shoppers had become irate after learning the shop had more iPad boxes on display than they had of the actual product.

He added that officers were able to ease the tension upon their arrival, and that no further action was taken.

Police have been called out to keep order across the UK as shoppers descend on stores.
