HIGH winds and wild weather has led to the cancellation of Sunday’s Botanic Lights event at the Royal Botanic Garden.

Officials were forced to call a halt to the popular display after severe weather conditions were forecast for the evening - with winds of more than 30mph expected through the city as the night goes on.

The Box Office is currently contacting all ticket holders by email and telephone to offer reallocation to another evening, and say they are “confident” everyone can be accommodated. If not, a refund will be offered.

Heather Jackson, director of enterprise at the Garden, said: “We are disappointed that the weather has interrupted what is already a terrifically popular run of Botanic Lights.

“We do apologise for any inconvenience caused, but as an outdoor attraction, we are always at the mercy of the elements.

“We look forward to welcoming all those with tickets for November 8 along on another evening and can assure them of a fantastic show when they do get here.”
