As a distraction from the interminable referendum Euro 2016 has provided much drama and light relief.

With Scotland not qualifying for the tournament we have all been free to support any other team for the sheer fun of it.

There have been some glorious games, the Hungary v Portugal match being a standout, but the moment of the tournament so far must be the Icelandic commentator’s description of their additional time winner against Austria. It was epic, passionate and brought a tear to any neutral’s eye.

Now they play England. Could it get any better?
