A BUSINESS advisor has the wind in his sails after being selected to take part in a round-the-world yacht race.
David Mowat, 43, is competing in two legs of the year-long battle, sailing more than 8000 miles from South America to Australia.
On board a Clipper yacht, the crew will face 60ft waves and gale force winds, braving some of the toughest seas on the planet.
The dad-of-two, from Newington, has regularly sailed on Loch Lomond and off the west coast of Scotland around the isles of Skye, Mull and the Inner Hebrides, but said this will be his toughest challenge yet.
“It’s going to be the challenge of a lifetime,” he said. “The boats are much bigger and the conditions are much harder, and you are sailing with a crew that you don’t really know.”
