A MAJOR protest march is set to take place as councillors meet to decide the future of a Lothian leisure centre.

Campaigners are set to gather tomorrow ahead of Midlothian Council’s meeting about the former Bonnyrigg Leisure Centre, marching under police escort from the Morrison’s store in Dalkeith to the council HQ.

Anyone wishing to take part is being asked to meet at the supermarket from 12.45pm.

Earlier this year, councillors agreed a stay of execution for the King George V Park facility to allow more time for plans to be developed to give the building a new lease of life.

They rejected previous bids by Bonnyrigg Centre Trust, which had plans to reopen the premises as a community hub and play centre, and also a bid from Midlothian Fitness Academy.
