A NEW national study has listed Edinburgh as one of Scotland’s top performing authorities when it comes to cycling.
The Capital was listed alongside Glasgow, Fife, Clackmannanshire and Aberdeenshire as the leading councils tackling active travel.
Edinburgh was awarded four out of five stars, with praise for better cycling infrastructure and the commitment to spend a fixed proportion of the transport budget on cycling.
Seven per cent of that budget will be invested in cycling in 2013-14.
The city recently transferred £1 million from its roads repairs budget to spend on cycling schemes.
