the Capital’s entry in the Clipper Round the World yacht race has arrived in Cape Town at the end of race three.
Edinburgh Inspiring Capital took tenth and last place in the race, which is part of a 15-race series taking place over a year.
Crew member Nick Barclay, 30, who is from Cape Town, said he was delighted to call in at his home port.
He said: “I never expected to feel so homesick and to wake up this morning and see Table Mountain was just spectacular.
“To be able to point out Signal Hill and Lion’s Head – and my apartment – was just amazing. We’re in the V&A Waterfront where I do all my shopping and I’ll be taking some of the crew to show them around my city later.”
Mr Barclay, who had a kidney transplant in 2005, is one of the Transplant Ambassadors, a team of transplantees, surgeons and other medics who have joined the Edinburgh crew to highlight the way that transplants transform lives.
