SCIENCE Fiction fans and cosplayers flocked to Meadowbank Sports Centre at the weekend for the Capital Sci Fi Convention.

Special guests included Dave Prowse MBE, who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars movies, Nathalie Cox (Juno Eclipse in The Force Unleashed game) and Viz founder Simon Donald.

Cosplayers were out in force, including ‘Beau Peep’, who came dressed in her home-made Oblivion Daedric armour.

Proceeds from the event were donated to the CHAS Rachel House hospice at Kinross.

Organiser Keith Armour said he was blown away by the feedback.

“With over 3000 visitors to our first event I am totally gobsmacked,” he said. “There has been nothing but amazing feedback from visitors, vendors and our media guests.

“The amazing volunteer team who gave up their time over the weekend Were exceptional interacting with visitors and looking after everyone to a high standard.”

He said they are still counting proceeds, but the event raises more than £25,000 for CHAS.

Mr Armour said Capital Sci Fi will organise more events, and urged those interested to stay up to date by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
