ONE of the Capital’s trunk roads has been named among the most dangerous in Scotland.

The A90, which runs from Edinburgh to Fraserburgh via South Queensferry, is one of five hotspots for serious and fatal accidents, new figures obtained by the Scottish Liberal Democrats show.

The others are the A9, the A96, the A82 and the A85.

Released through parliamentary questions, the figures also show that a bad incident happened nearly every day on Scotland’s trunk roads in the period since 2013.

Mike Rumbles, the Scottish Lib Dem transport spokesman, said: “These figures demonstrate clearly that the Scottish Government still has a huge amount of work to do to boost safety.

“Since 2013 we have seen year-on-year increases in the number of serious or fatal accidents on trunk roads under the management of the Scottish Government.

“We have also seen transport infrastructure projects that have already been budgeted for and announced with great fanfare being dragged out and delayed.”
