Dozens of West Lothian charities are set to benefit from an injection of cash this year after submitting winning bids to a local fundraising initiative.
Among the 32 community groups being rewarded for benefiting their area are horticultural organisations, playgroups, charities supporting people with debilitating conditions, band and sports clubs.
The Alliance to Reward Initiatives and Social Enterprise (Arise), which distributes the funding, was set up 2010 by The Centre in Livingston. Funding is provided by The Centre, and the scheme is backed by its owners Land Securities.
Successful bids that will share the funding in 2013-14 include new music books for Toccata Ladies Choir, computer equipment for Disability West Lothian, music stands for Whitburn Band, and kitchen equipment for the Open Door Accommodation Project.
David Carson, director of The Centre and chairman of Arise, said: “We would like to thank all of the groups that have taken the time to apply and would encourage any group that is need of financial support to get in touch and apply to Arise.”
