AN innovative chauffeur service set up in the Capital is expanding to Glasgow after proving a huge success.

Scoot, which was set up in Leith in 2003 by Ranjit Anderson, husband Michael and brother Surbjit, takes home revellers who are over the drink-drive limit in their own cars.

The firm is now taking 150 calls each week and looking after up to 600 customers a month, figures which double over the Christmas period.

Mrs Anderson said: “We charge around the same as a black cab but with the added bonus that you can drive yourself and then be collected and driven home in your own car, with no waiting around for taxis.

“Our drivers are experienced, friendly and fully insured and they provide a safe and reliable way of getting home.

“We have noticed an increased awareness among our clients of the dangers, which has to be a positive. We have also invested in the marketing side of the business.”
