AN Edinburgh student’s poem about chips has won her a key award for young writers.

Jenny Walker, 17, who is studying English Literature, received a Foyle Young Poet of the Year Award after beating off stiff competition from more than 7000 11 to 17-year-olds.

The competition is free to enter and poems can be on any theme, and of any length.
