PUBS across Leith have been honoured under the Best Bar None scheme for helping to create safer venues for their customers.
A total of 20 licensed venues received their awards from the city’s licensing board chairwoman, Councillor Marjorie Thomas, at a ceremony held at the City Chambers yesterday.
Cllr Thomas said: “The Best Bar None scheme has proved to be very popular, and we are delighted with the commitment shown by those participating.”
The Best Bar None Awards scheme encourages licensed venues to improve the standards of their operation.
Chief Superintendent Gill Imery, the city’s divisional commander, said: “The Best Bar None scheme is one element of our strategy to reduce crime and fear of crime in and around licensed premises through the promotion of best practice.”
