EDINBURGH’S libraries are in line to win their third national award in two years.

The Capital’s libraries and information service has been shortlisted for the Library of the Year accolade.

The winner will be announced at the forthcoming The Bookseller Industry Awards ceremony in London.

Liz McGettigan, library and information manager, said: “We’re absolutely over the moon to be on the shortlist for this major award.

“It’s a fantastic tribute to the hard work and dedication of all our libraries staff and to the continued growing success of the service.”

Edinburgh previously scooped the Scottish Design Awards’ Chairman’s Award for Design for a software project in May 2011 and the Libraries Change Lives Award for HMP Edinburgh Library Partnership in July 2010.
