City tenants’ housing call

A GROUP representing 20,000 tenants in the Capital has called on the UK Government to rethink welfare reforms.

The Edinburgh Tenants Federation wrote saying benefits changes would “disproportionately affect the poorest and most vulnerable in our society”.

Convener Betty Stevenson said: “We believe welfare reform could be the final nail in the coffin for a publicly funded social housing system that provides safe, secure and affordable housing.”
