TWO prisoner officers at
privately-run Addiewell jail in West Lothian have been suspended after they forgot to lock up an inmate.

Guards spotted the prisoner on CCTV, wandering around the jail.

A source said: “They accidentally left his cell open over a secure lock-up period last week. They are meant to go round each cell, check everyone is in, lock and bolt the doors, then go round again, double-checking the locks.”

Sodexo Justice Services, which operates the jail, confirmed two staff had been suspended.
