Police have charged a 22 year old man with attempted murder following an incident which prompted armed police to be dispatched to Dalkeith yesterday.

Around 5am yesterday morning officers in Midlothian responded to a report of damage being caused to a house in Woodburn Drive.

A crime scene was established and the area was cordoned off to allow enquiries to be carried out.

The 22 year old man is appearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Police Scotland is appealing for anyone who may have seen a male wearing dark clothing who was cycling a dark frame bike and carrying a white rucksack, in the Woodburn area in the early hours of Monday 25th August, or who has information that could assist the enquiry to phone 101.

Alternatively, members of the public can anonymously contact the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
