Broxburn car fire: Vehicle ablaze on street in West Lothian town

The car was filmed ablaze on Main Street.

A car in a West Lothian town was engulfed in flames on Saturday morning.

A video of the burning car shared to the Fife Jammer Locations Facebook group, shows a thick plume of black smoke streaming into the air on Broxburn’s Main Street, and a loud bang is heard as the vehicle blazes.

The incident was reported to the fire service just after 8am and the fire has since been put out. There were no injuries.

Local residents have claimed the car has now been removed.

It is not yet known what caused the fire.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokesperson told the Edinburgh Evening News: "We received a call at 0804am following reports of a car on fire opposite the swimming pool on East Main Street, Broxburn.

"The car was on fire upon arrival and it was extinguished the fire using one high-pressure hose.

"No one was injured in the fire.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
