TWO men have been arrested after cannabis plants and cash were seized in police raids.

Officers carried out searches at Edinburgh addresses yesterday as part of an intelligence-led operation.

Cash totalling £16,000 was found during a search of a home in Bavelaw Road along with evidence of drug packaging.

Further searches at a commercial property in Home Street uncovered 28 mature cannabis plants and about 3kg of “herbal matter”.

The recovered drugs have a potential street value of £45,000, police said.

The men, aged 31 and 33, have been charged with drugs and serious and organised crime offences, officers confirmed. They were set to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Detective Inspector Paul Grainger said: “Once again, vital intelligence from our communities has resulted in large quantities of drugs and cash being seized.

“Drugs and the proceeds of criminal activity can cause untold harm to our communities and Police Scotland is committed to tackling serious organised crime and associated offences.”
