POLICE investigating an incident which saw a city souvenir shop conned out of £1600 have released a CCTV uimage of aman they wish to speak to.
The store was targetted on April 13 this year, when the suspect entered the store and chatted with members of staff before asking them to exchange notes of smaller denomination for notes of a high denomination.
Using distraction and confusion techniques in a con known as ‘ringing the changes’ the suspect then obtained more money from members of staff than he handed over.
Officers have now have released an image of a man that they believe can assist with their enquiries.
He is described as white, between 5ft 7in and 6ft tall, around 30 years of age, of slim build and with black hair. At the time of the incident, he was dressed in a black shirt and grey trousers.
Officers would like to speak to the man pictured in the CCTV image, and anyone who recognises him or may have information about the incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
