The area was taped off while forensics experts conducted an examination. It is understood that the body was later removed and will undergo a post mortem to determine the cause of death, which is being treated as 'unexplained'.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At around 1pm on Saturday August 22, the body of a man was found in a wooded area near Old Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh.

"The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances."

Craigmillar Park is a popular spot for families, joggers, walkers and cyclists.
