Police in West Lothian are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a bookmaker in Whitburn over the weekend.
The incident happened around 9.30pm on Saturday at the Ladbrokes on West Main Street.
A male entered the premises, which was closed for the day, and presented a knife at the 26-year-old female employee before demanding she open the safe.
The suspect then made off with a four-figure sum of cash before police were contacted.
Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.
The male responsible is described as white, between 20 and 30-years-old, 5ft 10ins tall with a slim build. He was wearing a dark coloured zipper hooded top with light-coloured tassels, light grey jogging bottoms, dark footwear, dark gloves and had his face covered by a clothing garment.
Detective Sergeant Grant Paterson said: “Fortunately, the member of staff was not injured during the robbery, but was left understandably distressed as a result.
“Anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious around the store or in the West Main Street area on Saturday evening is asked to contact police immediately.
“In addition, anyone who recognises the description of the suspect and can help us trace him is also asked to get in touch.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
