A man has been arrested in connection with two armed robberies on Ferry Road last month.

The 39-year-old was detained at Levenmouth Police Station in Fife last night and is now in custody in Edinburgh.

He is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow to face charges relating to an armed robbery at the BP Garage on Sunday, January 18, and an attempted armed robbery at Scotbet on Tuesday, January 27.

The suspect made off with a three-figure sum in the first incident, but fled the scene empty-handed in the second case.

Detective Constable Mark Seymour said “ The culprit was identified after we received information following the release of CCTV stills in the media. I would like to thank the public for their assistance with this.”
