A Man has been beaten and kicked after being attacked by two men as they attempted to rob him behind a chip shop.

The attack happened around 12.40am this morning when the 45 year old victim was walking down a lane behind Aldo’s Chip Shop on Main Street, East Calder, when he was struck from behind.

The incident took place Two men then punched and kicked the victim and attempted to remove his jacket and take items from his pocket.

The suspects ran off in the direction of the park behind East Calder Health centre, where they were lost to sight.

The first suspect was described as white, 6ft to 6ft 3in tall, mid 20s, thin build with jet black hair, wearing a dark hoody. The second suspect was white, stocky, 30 to 40 years old, with a bald or shaven head, and was wearing a grey and black horizontal striped top.

Detective Sergeant Grant Paterson said: “The victim received bruising to his body as a result of this attempted robbery but thankfully did not require medical attention.

“We are now appealing for anyone who was in the area of Main Street at the time, and who may have seen a disturbance, to contact police immediately.”
