A man has been charged following a series of housebreakings and vehicle thefts in West Lothian.

On Tuesday 11th July a Mercedes Benz and Nissan Navara were stolen from addresses in Bells Burn Avenue and Springfield Road, Linlithgow.

Two further break-ins were then reported on Thursday September 14 in Armadale, where a Kia sportage was taken from outside a home in Marches Drive.

Inquiries carried out by officers from West Lothian and Glasgow resulted in the Nissan and Kia being recovered.

This inquiry also resulted in the recovery of Class A drugs worth £17,500 being recovered from an address in John Neilson Avenue, Paisley.

A 24-year-old has been arrested and will appear at court on the 26th October.

Inspector Drew Elliot said: “We recognise the impact these housebreakings had, not only on the victims, but on the wider community and we’ve been working closely with colleagues in Glasgow as part of this investigation for a number of months now.

“This has resulted in two of the three stolen vehicles being recovered, with inquiries continuing to trace the Mercedes Benz.

“In addition, a large quantiy of Heroin was also seized before it could make its way onto our streets.

“We are committed to tackling housebreaking and drug crime and would urge our communities to come forward if they wish to report offences of this nature, so we can conduct a thorough and professional investigation.”
