A MAN was knocked unconscious and awoke to find someone going through his pockets on a Leith street.

The 29-year-old was attacked on Great Junction Street, near Bangour Road.

He was walking home at around 1.30am on Sunday when he was attacked and knocked out.

The victim chased the robber towards North Junction Street, before he was lost to sight.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s, with short blonde hair. He was wearing a black parka-style waist length jacket.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time or who has information that can assist with the ongoing enquiry to get in touch.

Detective Constable John Dunn said: “This was an unprovoked assault on a man making his way home, and we are keen to speak to anyone who has information that can assist us in tracing the individual responsible.”
