A PERVERT who was caught with an “extreme porn” video has avoided a prison sentence.

Douglas Sharman – the first person in Scotland to be convicted of the offence – was sentenced to perform 100 hours of unpaid work as part of a six-month community payback order.

Livingston Sheriff Court heard that police caught him with an obscene film.

Sharman, 48, of Livingston, had the movie on his computer when officers seized it in an unrelated inquiry.

Sharman pleaded guilty to “possessing an extreme pornographic image”.

He gave a “no comment” interview to police after being charged with the offence.
