police are hunting for an unusual getaway driver after an electric fairground dodgem car was stolen in a late-night break-in.

The green battery-powered car was taken from the recently-bought former George Hotel in Haddington.

It is unknown whether the car was still working and police were unable to confirm if it had been driven out of the building.

A force spokesman said that officers were following a “positive line of inquiry” after the theft was reported to them on May 11 at around 2pm.

Speaking at a meeting last week, Sergeant Scott Nicolson revealed that the vehicle had vanished without a trace.
