A FIRE which broke out in an unoccupied house is being treated by police as suspicious.

The blaze started at the property in Margaret Avenue in Bathgate, West Lothian at around 1am yesterday.

Shortly before the incident was reported, two men were seen in the nearby area. The pair are described as wearing hooded tops, one dark and the other light in colour.

Detective Sergeant Grant Paterson said: “The house has suffered extensive damage, as a result of this fire, which we believe was started deliberately.

“We are appealing to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or has any information to contact police.”
