Second man charged over £1m jewellery heist

POLICE have arrested and charged a second man in connection with the robbery of an upmarket jewellers in the Capital earlier this year.

The 28 year old will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow after being charged in connection with the Hamilton and Inches robbery on June 6.

It is alleged more than £1 million worth of jewellery was stolen during the robbery of the George Street jewellers.

Earlier this year Michael Hood, 31, from Edinburgh appeared on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in connection with the raid, charged with assault and robbery and road traffic offences.

He made no plea or declaration was made and the case was continued for further inquiry.
