A shotgun and rifle are among items stolen during a housebreaking in Kirknewton.

Police were contacted at around 12pm on Saturday 30th August after a postman noticed the home, which is just off the A70, had been broken into.

Police say that antique furniture and paintings were also stolen from the address.

Anyone who remembers seeing any recent suspicious activity in the area is asked to come forward.

Constable Christopher Kay said: “The property was not being occupied at the time of the break-in and so we are still trying to establish exactly when this incident took place.

“As such, anyone who has information that can assist with our investigation is asked to get in touch.

“In addition, we would urge anyone who has knowledge of individuals attempting to sell on any of these stolen goods to contact police immediately.”

Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
