A TRANSGENDER woman has admitted killing a neighbour on Christmas day last year.

Melissa Young, 37, pled guilty at the High Court in Glasgow to the culpable homicide of Alan Williamson at a flat in Edinburgh on December 25, last year.

But prosecutor, advocate depute Bill McVicar said the plea was not acceptable to the Crown.

Young will stand trial in August at the High Court in Glasgow for the murder of 47-year-old Mr Williamson at a flat at Glenure Loan, Edinburgh.

She is alleged to have abducted and assaulted him. It is claimed she locked him in the flat against his will and repeatedly stabbed him on the body.

Young also faces another charge of abducting and assaulting Mr Williamson on July 18, 2013, at the same flat, lock him in the flat, present a knife at him and cause him to be so scared he jumped from the first floor balcony.

She denies the charges and the trial is expected to take five days.
