A 36-year-old woman has been charged with murder after a 20-year-old man was stabbed to death in South Queensferry.

The attack took place on The Loan, near to Scotmid, at around 1.30am yesterday.

The man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with critical injuries, but later died.

Local residents said that they had heard a fight spill out from one of the pubs on the High Street, up the Loan and into Morrison Gardens.

The Loan, one of South Queensferry’s main thoroughfares, was shut from the early hours until 1pm on Sunday, disrupting traffic and bus services.

Police have appealed for any witnesses who may have seen the fight that led to the stabbing to come forward.

A police spokeswoman said a 36-year-old woman had been charged with murder and was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.
