A DAD attacked his partner during an argument about another woman he was seeing.
Gordon Law left Vanessa Cuthbert covered in bruises following the assault after she confronted him.
Haddington Sheriff Court heard how Law landed a flurry of punches on Ms Cuthbert.
Law, 23, yesterday pleaded guilty to attacking Ms Cuthbert at the family home in Pencaitland, East Lothian on Monday.
Alison Innes, depute procurator fiscal, said: “I think it’s fair to say that they have not been getting on recently.
“There was an argument about a woman the accused was alleged to have been involved with recently, and he took it out on her physically by repeatedly punching her.”
Ms Innes added while Law was being interviewed by police he admitted the couple had “argued over this other person”, but he was just “trying to keep her away from him”.
Sheriff Peter Braid told Law he was deferring sentence until next month in order to obtain social work reports.
Law was released on bail but was warned not to approach Ms Cuthbert, or attempt to visit the family home.
