A MULTI-MILLION-pound health centre beset with delays is one step closer after city council bosses agreed the sale of land to NHS Lothian.
Health chiefs want to develop the former Oxgangs Primary school site into a £9 million Firrhill Health and Social Care Centre.
The facility, along with a second in Muirhouse, was supposed to be up and running more than three years ago.
But the plans were temporarily shelved amid delays over promised Scottish Government funding.
Now the Colinton Mains Drive site – which has stood empty since a fire destroyed the school more than a decade ago – will be sold for £360,000. Colinton/Fairmilehead Councillor Jason Rust said it was not before time.
“I welcome the fact that we are seeing some progress at last,” he said.
