‘Devoted father’ who died in crash named by police

POLICE have named the man who died in a car crash on Thursday night.

John Higgins, 41, died at the scene of the three-car accident in West Lothian.

His family paid tribute to him, saying: “John Higgins was a devoted father, loving son, brother, nephew and wonderful uncle. He will be dearly missed by all his family and the rest of the West Calder and Polbeth community”.

Two other people were injured and taken to hospital after the accident on the A71 between Polbeth and West Calder at around 9.10pm on Thursday.

The road was closed for six hours while officers investigated.

Inquiries are still ongoing and police appealing for witnesses who may have seen the Silver Vauxhall Vectra in the Polbeth area prior to the crash.
