CARERS are being sought to fill 100 jobs to be created in the Lothians.
Independent Living Services Scotland, which looks after elderly people and the disabled in their own homes, has begun a major recruitment drive in the Capital and East and West Lothian.
Workers will be fully trained in the job, which includes looking after several people each day.
A recruitment open day will take place at the Almondvale Shopping Centre, in Livingston, on Thursday between 10am and 3pm.
Scott Christie, chairman of ILS Scotland, said: “Scotland’s elderly population is predicted to rise by more than half a million over the next two decades.
“This is leading to increased demands on care at home services, which are becoming more vital than ever before, and which can help support older people to live in their own homes rather than in long-term residential care.
“A little bit of help can go a long way towards maintaining an independent lifestyle, and this is exactly where we fit in.
“Our employees support people with some of the tasks we all take for granted.”
