TWO teenagers have been arrested and charged in connection with the assault and robbery of a boy aged 16 who had his mobile phone stolen.
The victim and his friend had just got off a bus at Lasswade Road as they made their way home from school at around 4.25pm on Thursday.
After being approached and speaking with the two suspects, the victim was pushed to the ground and robbed.
Detectives detained two 16-year-old boys and charged them in connection with the incident. Both teenagers are to appear in court at a later date.
The phone was found in a shop in the Gilmerton area.
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Cunningham said: “This investigation was undertaken by officers as part of Operation Arable – an ongoing campaign to tackle street crime.
“Thankfully, the phone was quickly recovered and as part of our intelligence gathering inquiries, we are carrying out more work in relation to the store where it was traced.”
