Edinburgh housebreak suspect set for court

A MAN has been arrested and charged in connection with alleged housebreaking offences in the Capital.

The 34-year-old man is set to appear in court at a later date in connection with the incidents along with alleged drug offences.

In one incident at around 12:30am on Wednesday, a 70-year-old man discovered items from his shed had been removed and piled up in his garden in Springfield in Pilrig.

After the pensioner and a neighbour saw a man acting suspiciously beside a nearby wheelie bin, the pair called police.

Police attended and discovered a quantity of tools within the wheelie bin, which were believed have been stolen from other properties.

Officers are carrying out enquiries to trace the owner of the tools, and anyone who believes they have been among the victims targeted is asked to contact police.
